The Asian Biohydrogen and Bioprocesses Symposiums (ABBS) is an annual conference around Asia economies and has been successfully held for seventeen consecutive years. This event is held in turns in Asia Pacific countries and was last held in Indonesia ten years ago. In 2023, the 18th ABBS symposium will be held in hybrid format at Solo, Central Java, Indonesia from 21 to 25 November 2023, with theme “New and Renewable Energy for Green Planet”.
The 18th “ABBS 2023” is jointly organized by the National Research and Innovation Agency of The Republic of Indonesia (BRIN), the Sebelas Maret University (UNS Solo Indonesia), the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation-Research Center for Advanced Biohydrogen Technology (APEC-ACABT) and the World BioHyLinks (WBHL), and supported by PT PERTAMINA (Persero). ABBS 2023 will be held in conjunction with “International Young Entrepreneurs Competition (APEC YES Challenge 2023)” and “International Annual Meeting of Members of APEC Research Center for Advanced Biohydrogen Technology (APEC – ACABT 2023)”.
The International Annual Meeting of Members of APEC Research Center for Advanced Biohydrogen Technology “APEC – ACABT” will promote economic growth, trade, and investment opportunities, as well as social progress and innovation capacity building, so as to build a platform for APEC economies. The APEC-ACABT Meeting will be held on 21 November 2023, located at UNS Tower, Solo, Central Java.
The ABBS 2023 is aims to bring together leading academic scientists, researchers, and research scholars to exchange and share their experiences and research results on all aspects of sustainable and competitive circular bioeconomy solutions through technological innovation and creativity. ABBS 2023 – The 18th Asian Biohydrogen dan Bioprocesses Symposium will be held from 22 to 23 November 2023, located at UNS Tower, Solo, Central Java.
The International Young Entrepreneurs Competition “APEC YES Challenge” 2023 will convey creative-applicative research ideas that will be or have already been carried out by prioritizing research applications and their economic value. The “APEC YES Challenge” event will be held from 24 to 25 November 2023, located at BRIN Cibinong (Science & Technology Area Soekarno), Jalan Raya Bogor KM. 46, Cibinong, West Java.

By Airplane
The nearest airport for long-distance visitors is Solo-Adi Soemarmo (SOC). There are many airlines that can take you to Surakarta (Solo), such as Garuda Indonesia, Citilink, Lion Air, etc. Most of them require you to have a stop in Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK), Jakarta. From CGK, you can continue your travel to Surakarta by another airplane.

If you want more private transportation, you can just order an online taxi such as Go-Car from Gojek App or GrabCar from Grab App. There are also conventional taxis lining up in front of the arrival gate at the airport. This transportation will certainly give you more comfort than the others. Only a 35 minutes drive to the international airport of Adi Sumarmo (SOC).
Solo City is located in Central Java-Indonesia and it is a popular destination for tourists; it is easily accessible by just an hour of flight from Bali or Jakarta, two hours of flight from Kuala Lumpur, and only one and a half hours of flight from Singapore. Jakarta and Yogyakarta also offer connections to Solo City by train. The population of Solo City is around 500,000, and the people are known for their strong adherence to Javanese tradition. The Mataraman dialect used in Solo City is spoken with a softer tone in daily conversation compared to other Mataraman dialects in other areas. Solo City has a warm, humid equatorial climate, with an average temperature of 28 degrees Celsius and heavy rainfall from December to March.
